Guidance and Special Educational Needs (SEN) Department
At Yago School Malaga, we view education as a holistic journey that extends far beyond academic learning. Our Guidance and Educational Psychology Department is a cornerstone of our educational model and reflects our strong commitment to student wellbeing, emotional development and personal success.
Our team is made up of highly qualified educational psychologists and guidance specialists, with extensive experience supporting students in international educational settings. Their work is based on a professional, caring and rigorous approach, focused on prevention, early identification and personalised intervention, always in close collaboration with teachers and families.
The Guidance Department provides specialist support and advice to the entire school community (students, staff and families) ensuring that each student receives the guidance they need at every stage of their development. Through ongoing monitoring and open communication, we deliver timely, consistent and tailored responses to students’ academic, emotional and social needs.
As a specialised department within the school, it supports all initiatives aimed at ensuring an inclusive, balanced and high-quality education, adapting teaching and learning processes to individual profiles, developmental stages and each student’s potential. This approach fosters a safe and supportive environment where students feel heard, valued and confident to reach their full potential.
Supporting diversity is one of the department’s key responsibilities. It coordinates psycho-educational assessments, collaborates in the design, implementation and monitoring of curriculum adaptations, and leads targeted intervention programmes for students with specific educational support needs, as well as curriculum enrichment programmes for high-ability students.
The Guidance Department also plays a vital role in supporting families, recognising them as an essential part of the educational journey. Through our Parent School, we create spaces for learning, reflection and open dialogue, offering practical tools and specialist guidance to help families and school work together with confidence and consistency.
